The how-to's of surviving parenting the second-time around.

EYES OF BLUE

I try to see your world through your eyes of blue...
that occasional look...without a clue.
You sometimes laugh and sometimes cry,
For reasons only God knows why.

Where do your memories take you...
So far away from home,
You notice everything around you
Yet your mind so often roams.

Does it bother you my sweet child,
That you cannot join in and bring,
Your thoughts and ideas to the table,
and talk about anything.

But I can read your pretty face,
Your sadness and your smiles.
Your laughter brings such joy to me,
Your a very special child.

Do you notice that you are different?
It doesn't seem to be true.
You walk around in your own lil world...
You and those Eyes of Blue.
.
I wrote this sweet poem for my GD who has mild autism. She talks but does not CARRY a conversation very well. Anyone who has an autistic child will relate to these words

Did You Know
That supporting the grandparent caregivers costs only third the money that goes to supporting a child in foster care.
