Lean on me
When you're not strong
 I'll give you hope
 I'll help you carry on
We all need somebody to lean on.
                                               from the song

Nothing is more true than this song when it comes to grandparents raising grandchildren. Together we can ease the pain, share the good times and help one another to grow and be the best we can be for our grandchildren, our families and ourselves. To be with others who know exactly what we are going through is so healing.  Some have been there and done that and can help us past the rough spots and can give us hope that we too can not only survive this new adventure of raising grandchildren but flourish and bring forth a new generation of responsible human beings. What better goal could a person have.

Below is a list of the support groups that we know about in your state. If you know of a support group in this state Please contact kathy@grandsplace.org..

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren,
meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 at Indiana State University, Terre Haute, IN.  Our group meets in Rm. 106 in the School of Education.  Our group is facilitated by graduate students of the School of Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic.  We also have a group for our grandchildren at the same time, also facilitated by two grad students.
Our group consists of grandparents who are at various stages of caring for their grandchildren, because of drug and/or alcohol abuse, abandonment, physical
abuse
We support each other while dealing with financial, emotional, health and legal problems.  Topics of discussion include health issues, financial issues, outside sources for help, family relation questions, all other topics members wish to discuss. You may contact the facilitators at 812-237-4381.
 Both groups are free.
