Lean on me
When you're not strong
 I'll give you hope
 I'll help you carry on
We all need somebody to lean on.
                                                from the song

Nothing is more true than this song when it comes to grandparents raising grandchildren. Together we can ease the pain, share the good times and help one another to grow and be the best we can be for our grandchildren, our families and ourselves. To be with others who know exactly what we are going through is so healing.  Some have been there and done that and can help us past the rough spots and can give us hope that we too can not only survive this new adventure of raising grandchildren but flourish and bring forth a new generation of responsible human beings. What better goal could a person have.

Below is a list of the support groups that we know about in your state. If you know of a support group in this state Please contact kathy@grandsplace.org..

Support Group Network for Kinship Care Families:
The Wyoming Department of Family Services is in the process of establishing a statewide Relatives as Parents Program (RAPP) under a grant from The Brookdale Foundation.  The program will create five new support groups for kinship care families raising children outside of the child welfare system across the state.  The groups will be run in partnership with social service agencies in local communities.  In addition to support groups, the Department also plans to develop a service network of local organizations serving kinship care families as well as to offer kinship care trainings for members of the professional community and other interested individuals. Contact: Jim Palmer, Social Services Consultant, Wyoming Department of Family Services, at (307) 777-6203 or jpalme2@state.wy.us or Maureen Clifton at (307) 777-3570 or mclift@state.wy.us
