Mission Statement and Project Plan

Who are we?  We are grandparents, foster parents, Aunts and Uncles, all of a generation that was looking towards retirement, towards relaxation and time with each other.  But, because of varying situations in our lives, we have taken on the task, sometimes reluctantly, but always with love, of raising our children's children.  This challenge has been presented to us, and we have accepted it.  GrandsPlace is dedicated to these special people.

Purpose

To provide a safe and accepting environment where caregivers can join together and give each other the support and help that they need.

To provide an on-line site where caregivers are able to leave with a better feeling about themselves.

To attempt to provide the love and support to children whose lives are in disruption, whatever the cause.

To provide a resource of information concerning grandparent rights issues, a resource guide to grandparent support groups, and interactive bulletin boards for your questions and use.

We, the President and Board Members of GrandsPlace, are here to assist you in any way that we can.  If you perceive a need that is not being addressed, let us know.  We will evaluate each and every request, and if we agree that the need is there, we will do our best to provide that need.

PURPOSE

GrandsPlace was developed as a gathering place for those caregivers raising their children's children.  A place to share resources and stories, a place where we would feel safe and secure in discussing our problems.  We have grown rapidly, and now the focus is starting to shift to gathering the resources to do something about the problems we face.

The Board of Director's of GrandsPlace will provide bulletin boards for this purpose, and assist in gathering these resources and posting them on-site. But the leadership for these endeavors lies with the members of GrandsPlace.  The Board will provide as much assistance and guidance as possible.  The Board of Director's reserves the right to evaluate any and all proposals for bulletin boards and the content therein, and the right to reject a proposal if, in the Boards opinion, it is deemed not to be in the best interests of the membership as a whole.

The Board of Directors for GrandsPlace shall consist of a minimum of 3 officers, currently the Executive Director, Treasurer, and Public Relations Director, Resources Director and Director of Communications.  Additional Board Members will be selected from the membership rolls by the Board of Directors to assist in running GrandsPlace.  While these Board Members shall have full voting rights, the final decision  of any vote shall always rest with the Directors.

                                         MEMBERSHIP

GrandsPlace has been supported entirely by donations from the Board of Director's.  As we have grown, the Board can no longer financially support the cost of maintaining this site. One of the ways we support GrandsPlace is to invite people who can afford to support this web site to become a member.  A member is any person who submits an application (which can be by letter) and pay a yearly membership fee of $25.00.  This fee will be used to help offset the cost to provide these services to you.  Any funds in excess of actual costs will be used to provide reimbursement for travel associated with GrandsPlace, and to build an assistance fund for needy members.

We are here to provide a better world for the children we are raising, and to assist those who need it in finding the resources to do so. sponsors.
